SELLING TIPS
Every now and then we see something we love! And we just cannot pass it by, so…we buy it! Repeat this action over a period (A long, long time) and you end up with a garage overfilled or a rather crammed house of unwanted goods.Among all the things collected over time, it can sometimes include furniture pieces, paintings, rugs and various home décor items and the time comes when you just want it gone.Turning your unwanted interior design items into cash has now become even easier with a site dedicated to the selling, buying, exchanging and even renting your Art and Design items to like-minded people who also have a love for all things design.
Decide if you are willing to ship the item.
Make it clear to potential buyers in your listing, whether you are willing to ship the item New Zealand wide or not. Shipping the item will increase your chances of a sale as your item will reach a larger buyer audience.
Is your item sales worthy?
The website ARTnDESIGN was created to be a place for designer minded people to buy, sell, exchange or rent new and good used items of home decor and all things designer. The last thing one wants to find here is dirty, broken and ready for the tip kind of stuff. There is a category for shop soiled or damaged goods if you have a item of good quality but may have a nick or wobbly wheel that needs replacing, so keep that in mind when uploading your item for sale.
Price can make all the difference.
Do your research! pricing your item to high will not help at all but pricing to low will see you miss out on a fair price and loss of some profits. See what your item sells for on the internet or in stores and price yours in accordance, keeping in mind that it is a used item. There is nothing more frustrating than finding a used item selling for more than it costs new in a retail store.
Spruce up the item to be sold.
Everybody appreciates buying an item that is clean. If you are selling a used item consider fixing the loose screws, paint the exposed nicks and scrapes, put back the drawer knobs etc. Doing this not only increases your chances of a sale but allows for a higher selling price based on the good, very good or excellent condition of the item.
The photo-shoot.
It is no use taking the time to spruce up and fix your item to be sold if you take a lousy blurred photo. Take the time to use a good backdrop and use extra lighting where possible. Remember, the item you trying to sell is your “model” and a picture, is worth a thousand words. With that being said, take your best shot.
Write good description.
Be descriptive as possible. Do mention the condition of the item in great detail, nicks, dents, fading and any other defects your item may have. Doing this, the buyer knows exactly what condition the item is in and he or she is not met with any unexpected nasty surprises. Take measurements and list the dimensions in the listing.
The meet up.
Safety, safety, safety…First! Always make arrangements to meet in a populated area and take a friend where possible. If you can ship the item and the buyer is willing to pay for the shipping expenses, Ship it rather than meeting up, it is the safer option.
Be polite.
Do not Use foul language, be responsive to buyers inquires, and be punctual for any arranged pickups. ARTnDESIGN has a feedback system and the way you handle transactions determines your reputation within the ARTnDESIGN community.
